The 'world's first SSD-based CD ripping' NAS device
The Atom-powered RipNAS launched at the beginning of this year in the UK, but the boutique retailer has introduced two new models, one of which is claimed to be "the world's first SSD-based CD ripping" NAS device.
The RipNAS Statement, which comes in both totally-silent SSD and almost-silent HDD flavors, is based on the Windows Home Server OS and can handle CD ripping, media streaming and networked file storage. (The device has Asset UPnP, iTunes, SqueezeCenter, SMB/CIFS and network streaming services built in.)
Inside, you'll find a dual-core Atom CPU, 2GB of RAM and four USB 2.0 ports. The Statement SSD is offered with 500GB (2 x 250GB SSDs), while the Statement HDD comes with 3TB (2 x 1.5TB HDDs).
No word on pricing, but if the $1,000 original RipNAS is any indication, it won't be a paltry sum.
