I was hangin' out on Slashdotover the weekend when I saw this post about some guy who had apparently built his own full-screen, thin-client VoIP phone.

I followed the link to a Web page maintained by "R. Sohan." Apparently, Mr. Sohan hasworked withone of the "beautiful but useless Broadband Phones" orphaned when AT&T Research Cambridge (U.K.) closed down.

According to Mr. Sohan, he's made the phone functional. And more than that! We're talking 65K colors, a 640x480 screen,8MB of flash memory, a touchscreen, and a sound card running a flavor of the Linux 2.2 kernel.

If you want to read the basics of how he brought the phone to life, here you go. If your curiosity is roused and you want a peek under the hood, go here.

Does this phone interest you? Would you buy one? Let us know by posting a TalkBack.
