This just in: Apple to host iPhone OS event on Thursday

I guess the Apple rumor mill was so busy with the iPad that no one bothered to speculate about a possible forthcoming announcement related to the iPhone.

I received my invitation only moments ago to come out to Apple's HQ this Thursday for a "sneak peek into the future of iPhone OS." Check out the shadow of the big "4" on the invitation.

I can't imagine Apple would haul everyone to an event for some spec announcements related to the OS without some other juicy headlines to stir the blogosphere. Other carriers? Verizon Wireless, perhaps? Obviously, there's no hint of that in the invitation, but you can't blame a guy for wishful thinking.
