This week's Nerdcam departs from its usual format for an on-camera one on one with Amazon.com's chief technology officer and vice president Dr Werner Vogels.

After spruiking Amazon Web Service's vision for a cloud-powered world at the Amazon Cloud Tour last week, Vogels came into our studio for a chat about the company's plans to deploy a datacentre down under, his views on the National Broadband Network (NBN) and the future of the cloud.

We also talk about privacy implications when storing data in the cloud, and try to wrestle out an answer to questions about the Patriot Act.

Vogels is set to speak tonight at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Check out the video for the serious side of Nerdcam, and tune in next week for more shenanigans.
