The annual Sunday Times/Virgin Fast Track 100 survey listed TeleAdapt because of the 68 percent growth the company has enjoyed since setting up in 1992. TeleAdapt provide telephone socket adapters to allow laptop users to connect to their PCs and the Internet when on business trips.

Managing director of TeleAdapt Gordon Brown believes the company will continue to expand as mobile working becomes more commonplace. "If you cannot get connected to e-mail and networks when you are away from the desk, the office becomes an island," Brown said. He does not believe there will be a backlash to the information overload many office workers now experience. "It will become accepted as the norm. If you're not connected you are not competitive," he said.

TeleAdapt was amongst twelve other computer companies, from software makers, IT recruitment consultants, retailers and wholesalers, to be selected for the top 100. Progressive Computer Recruitment came number one in the league table, with an annual growth of 197 percent.
