Toshiba and Best Buy have partnered to produce a new laptop that is just for kids: the Satellite L635.

The 13.3-inch Satellite series notebook is Toshiba's first PC for youngsters, and it's definitely a big kid machine.

Before we get to the specs, however, let's discuss the special features Toshiba has implemented with the intention of keeping parents happy. First, security comes in the form of KidZui, an Internet browser for children, and Net Nanny, which parents can program set boundaries on how the laptop is used. There's also a webcam with special software designed for younger computer users.

Naturally, kids are messy. So the Satellite L635 sports a wipeable keyboard plus a no-gloss textured finish across the board.

Now let's get on to the real deal inside the Toshiba L635. Don't expect the world, but buyers will get a 13.3-inch diagonal HD display, a built-in DVD drive, a 250GB HDD, 2GB of RAM and an Intel Celeron P4600 processor. Some of the pre-installed entertainment includes a pair of two unspecified Disney movies (that leaves a lot of room open) and the LEGO Batman video game.

The Satellite L635 will be available on September 26 exclusively at Best Buy stores for $499.
