While it is still a bit debatable whether an anti-virus solution is necessary for mobile devices, there is no denying the fact that viruses, malware, spam and spyware keep increasing in numbers we should keep an eye on the mobile market. As more and more of us move to using mobile devices and taking our work with us on the go, we need to make sure our data is safe and secure. Windows for Devices shared that Trend Micro is getting ready to beta test their latest Trend Micro Mobile Security (TMMS) 3.0 software that combines anti-virus and firewall functionality for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone and Pocket PC devices. They have had a mobile anti-virus solution for a while now and it actually runs on Windows Mobile, Symbian UIQ, and Symbian Series 60 devices. I do think their SMS spam blocking functionality can be very helpful now that I am using SMS more than I was a couple months ago.

New features of TMMS 3.0 is an improved user interface, automatic updates, and the firewall I mentioned. The beta test period is schedule to run from August 28th to October 3rd and if your are interested in testing this out then you need to complete a short questionnaire at Zoomerang.com and have a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone or Pocket PC.
