UK Formula One goes Digital

The Rothmans Williams Renault Formula One team are now officially Digital-ly powered.
Written by Asher Rospigliosi, Contributor

Over the last 10 years the increasingly sophisticated integration of DEC computers into the team has been part of their success story. Computers are involved in all stages of the Williams story, from the CAD/CAM stage, through simulations which examine aspects such as stress and wind resistance, to the roadside itself.

Now Digital supplies laptops that allow the race engineers to monitor real time performance data, live from the car as it races. This live transmission gives an insight into performance issues, such as engine temperature, previously unimaginable. With this level of feedback the future looks bright for British Formula One hopes.
