Dell's latest smartphone venture, the Venue, is almost here. An unlocked version is already ready to pre-order.

The Venue has already touched ground in Korea, and it is finally landing stateside this month. Running on Android 2.2, the Venue costs a staggering $499.99 and will ship on Friday, February 18. Included in the price are the choice of an AT&T or T-Mobile 3G SIM card. It's a pretty price to pay for wireless freedom, but for some consumers, it's worth it.

The Dell Venue isn't exactly a waste of money either. Some of the more notable specs include:

  • 4.1-inch AMOLED capacitive multi-touch screen (WVGA 800 x 480 resolution)
  • 1GHz processor
  • 16GB microSD card (Supports up to 32GB)
  • 8-megapixel autofocus camera with 4x digital zoom
  • Video recording (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, WMV)
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • USB and micro USB connectivity
  • 1400 mAh battery
