US News Burst: Attorneys General say Microsoft action 'likely'

Attorneys general from 13 states are in the final stages of preparing a joint antitrust action against computer giant Microsoft, the New York Times reported today.

"The decision on our action is imminent, and in my opinion some action is likely," Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal told the Times. "I think it will be in the next couple of weeks." Several of the state officials told the paper they are prepared to proceed without the U.S. Justice Department which has its own probe of the world's largest software maker, although they would rather act in conjunction with the federal agency.
