Apple updated its Universal Serial Bus software for the iMac Wednesday, apparently in response to reports of problems printing to USB printers and with other peripheral devices.

The iMac Update 1.0 software was posted on the Software Updates section of Apple's Web site. The update replaces the Mac OS ROM file in the iMac's System folder.

"iMac Update 1.0... improves customer experience with many USB peripherals."
-- Apple statement

"Based on initial customer and developer feedback, Apple (Nasdaq:AAPL) has made improvements to its Universal Serial Bus (USB) software for iMac customers," the company stated in a document accompanying the software update.

"The iMac Update 1.0 includes these improvements. It improves customer experience with many USB peripherals.

"While every iMac customer should install this update, only iMac customers that use additional USB devices other than the Apple USB keyboard and Apple USB mouse included with their iMac are likely to notice the improvements after installation," the statement said.
