UTS site leaves students hanging
UTS claims the new Web service that was installed for students to access their information was brought down by 4,000 to 5,000 students trying to log-in too early.
Acting director for the university's IT infrastructure and operations, Peter James, said there were some issues with the new technology, however he said the exam results were still available at the advertised time.
"We had a few problems with all the students trying to go in at once and they hit it early on, so we had to reroute the results back to the old system," he said. "We had a fall back plan just in case something like this happened."
However UTS students told ZDNet Australia today that they were unable to access their results after the advertised availability time, and also when the system did begin to load it took "hours" for the results to be displayed.
James maintains that student results were available by the Wednesday 5pm deadline.
