Verizon Enterprise to resell VMware's AirWatch

Summary:Verizon Enterprise will add VMware's AirWatch to its mobility management platform for on-premise deployments.

Verizon's enterprise unit said Tuesday that it will resell VMware's AirWatch mobility management platform for on-premise deployments.

The deal gives VMware and AirWatch more exposure to large enterprises looking to manage mobile devices and secure them.

When VMware acquired AirWatch earlier this year, the virtualization giant really bought a mobile strategy. Now VMware is using its reach and channel to attempt to grab turf against the likes of BlackBerry, MobileIron, Good and Citrix to name a few.

The Verizon-VMware partnership covers AirWatch's mobility management platform, collaboration tools and desktop virtualization and bring your own PC tools.

Verizon Enterprise offers a series of mobile management products including devices and plans, application management, security and bring your own device tools.
