Verizon's Terremark, EMC enhance cloud partnership

Summary:Terremark will standardize on EMC's gear including its storage, backup and replication technologies.

Verizon's Terremark unit and EMC formed a cloud partnership that will combine the telecom giant's hosting with the storage company's gear.

Specifically, the partnership aims to build custom cloud offerings with EMC's infrastructure. EMC will chip in the technology behind Terremark's enterprise private cloud service and hybrid data centers.

According to a statement, Terremark will standardize its private cloud business on EMC's storage, backup and replication technologies.

Terremark will also become a platinum member of EMC's service partner program, dubbed EMC Velocity. EMC Velocity provides sales and marketing support to partners.

The two companies have been partners for nearly 10 years.
