in brief The Victorian Police confirmed that its CIO, Valda Berzins, has resigned just as her department underwent an investigation.

A spokesperson for the police said that Berzins had resigned on 15 October and was currently on annual leave, but could not go into any detail about the circumstances of her departure.

The spokesperson was also able to confirm that there was an investigation into her department, the Business and Information Technology Services Division of the Victoria Police, but was unable to go into specifics because the operation was ongoing.

This is the second departure under uncertain circumstances for the state within a month, with Victorian ICT Minister Theo Theophanous temporarily stepping down from his role until a complaint lodged with the Victorian Police against him could run its course.
