SINGAPORE, July 4, 2000 - Viewlocity, a provider of B2B integration and online trading community solutions, has been selected by Pacific International Lines (PIL) to integrate its global network of offices spanning 120 ports and cities.

In Asia, some of these existing customers include COSCO, Evergreen Shipping, Klang Container Terminal, Westport and Wilhemsen Lines, as well as 13 of China's major ports.

Viewlocity will tightly integrate the multiple e-commerce, financial and shipping applications sitting within PIL's global IT hub.

By integrating its core IT system with AMTrix, PIL will allow its customers to access critical shipping information in real time, at any stage across the supply chain, regardless of geographical boundaries.

This e-business infrastructure layer will allow PIL's software systems for handling logistics, documentation, accounts, marketing, shipping, container management and customer service functions to be integrated into one platform.

By implementing an integrated system, PIL is able to provide real time information as to when the next connecting vessel is available. In the absence of the new technology, they would not have been able to provide an immediate answer to a customer should he or she ask about a connection for a particular cargo.

In the project, Viewlocity's AMTrix, running on an IBM RS6000 server, will be integrating various elements within the IT hub including a CODA Financials solution running on a Compaq Alpha server, an Oracle database and other shipping applications.

Viewlocity's partner, S&I, carried out the AMTrix development work. The next phase of the project will involve integrating customer relationship management applications via AMTrix with PIL's core system.
