Visa buys CardinalCommerce for ecommerce authentication tools
Visa acquired partner CardinalCommerce so it can ease transactions and security.
Visa said that it has acquired CardinalCommerce for ecommerce payment authentication technology.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
CardinalCommerce specializes in payment technology across browsers, apps, and devices. Visa will use those tools to pitch merchants on digital commerce.
According to Visa, the acquisition will add security to transactions, cut fraud and boost digital commerce. Visa said it's "committed to equipping merchants, acquirers, and issuers with intelligent, data-driven tools to keep e-commerce fraud in check, while minimizing disruption to consumers at checkout."
The two companies were already partners, and Visa plans to integrate tokenization technology into Visa Checkout with in the next 18 months.
