VMware and Google are set to release three collaborative technology projects to speed application development.

At the SpringOne 2GX developer conference on Thursday, the two companies announced that three of their collaborative projects will be available within two weeks. The projects marry Java-based VMware-owned Spring technology with Google plugins and applications.

"By making deployments of Spring Java applications on Google App Engine using Google Web Toolkit generally available, developers can deploy Java applications in production environments of their choice while leveraging rich web front-end across multiple devices," Google's vice president of developer platforms, Vic Gundotra, said in a statement.

The projects being released are Spring Roo and Google Web Toolkit, which marries a Java application development tool with features of the Google Web Toolkit; Spring Inside and Google Speed Tracer, which fuses the two analytics programs to give a better view of the pace at which events occur within an application; and SpringSource Tool Suit and Google Plugin for Eclipse, which speeds the process of bringing applications into the Eclipse open source development platform.

Google announced its development partnership with VMware at the Google I/O conference in May this year.

The virtualisation company VMware and Google plan to extend their collaboration into the mobile space, according to Brad Abrams of Google's Developer Team. "Longer term, we will be looking at incorporating mobile best practices, styled UIs, and HTML5 features such as app cache, local database storage, and geolocation to make the developer and end-user experience first class," Abrams wrote.
