VMware stakes claim in IT services with Digital Fuel buy

Summary:The company has bought Digital Fuel, a firm specialising in financial management and analysis tools

VMware has announced plans to acquire Digital Fuel, a company dedicated to IT financial management and optimisation for SaaS solutions.

VMware already has the virtualisation and cloud-computing infrastructures fairly covered, but the purchase of Digital Fuel signifies the Silicon Valley-based company's intention to hone in on IT services.

Digital Fuel already has a portfolio of solutions lined up for IT management of costs, budgeting and billing. It also offers usage and service-level analysis to enterprise customers. Thus, VMware can offer a more complete (or at least larger) package to clients interested in managing both cloud-based and SaaS platforms.
