After announcing that it had signed on to provide trial National Broadband Network (NBN) services in May, Vodafone has finally connected its first customers.

Vodafone said today that it had hooked up customers in Armidale, who were consuming mobile, pay TV and broadband via the national network.

"We are pleased to have connected our first NBN customers and delighted to be providing them with some of the innovation that's possible with the latest generation of mobile, fixed broadband and TV services," Nigel Dews, CEO of Vodafone Hutchison Australia said in a statement.

Vodafone is providing the television service through fetch and the mobile service via the Vodafone Expand femtocell product.

The mobile carrier said it was looking to expand from Armidale to Kiama and Brunswick next year.
