Vodafone UK buys Cable & Wireless

Summary:Vodafone has signed a deal to acquire Cable & Wireless Worldwide for £1.04 billion.

Former Optus co-owner Cable & Wireless has been snapped up by Vodafone UK for £1.04 billion. As part of the deal, Vodafone picks up a 20,500km long fibre network in the UK, and 425,000km long fibre network worldwide, reaching 35 countries, including Australia.
