Some VoIP technology solutions providers may think it, but Morag Lucey has said it:

When it comes to the advantages of VoIP, some small and medium businesses are a bit clueless. And because of this, IP telephony firms need to do a better job explaining IP Telephony's advantages.

Lucey is in a position to talk. He's vice president of marketing for global IP telephony powerhouse Avaya Inc.

If you've been around marketing people a lot, you'll know that they don't talk frankly about some of their key constituencies. Which make Lucey's recent comments to eChanneLine Daily News that much more eye-popping.

"In lots of sales meetings, business partners are still talking technology, and SMBs just don't get it," Lucey told the publication. "We need to start talking to them about mobility, because that's such an important element for them, we need to talk to them about customer service, about conferencing, and about collaboration.

"We need to talk about the investment that's required," he added, "and how they're going to see that investment come back in business value."

Do you agree that VoIP solutions providers could do a better job explaining the business advantages? Any suggestion? TalkBack and let us know.
