Retailers seem to have finally caught up with the mania that is Black Friday, and are trying to get out in front of this year's shopping festivities and the inevitable online leaking of ads and deals. Walmart, for one, is already doing pre-Black Friday weekend deals at its brick-and-mortar stores, as well as offering online specials throughout the month.
These online deals include numerous HDTVs, including both the usual second-tier manufacturers as well as some big-name brands. For instance, Walmart is selling the LG 42LW5300, 42-inch LED-backlit 3D LCD with four pairs of passive 3D glasses, for just $727 -- about $70 less than its usual price and more than $150 cheaper than elsewhere online. If you don't need 3D, there's also the LG 47LV4400 47-inch LED set for $698.
Other big-screen deals are even cheaper. You can grab a 46-inch LED-backlit Westinghouse LD-4655VX for $549.98 -- $100 less than at Best Buy, but only $30 less than at TigerDirect. If you eschew LED-backlighting, you can score a 46-inch RCA 46LA45RQ for $498, though its refresh rates are just 60Hz and Best Buy matches that price. The cheapest 46-inch currently on offer is the Sceptre X460BV-FHD, also 60Hz, for just $439.98, or nearly $150 less than at Sears.
If you only need a 40-inch TV, the 240Hz Philips 40PFL5505D/F7 is $499.99, the 60Hz Toshiba 40FT2U is $387 ($499.96 at QVC.com), and the 60Hz Sceptre X405BV-FHD is just $329. You can also get 32-inch sets from RCA and Sceptre for under $300.
