Western Digital has a new storage solution for managing home media content. Say hello to the My Book Live home network drive.

Promising "more than triple the speed of traditional USB 2.0 drives," the My Book Live boasts transfer speeds up to 100 MBps. The DLNA-enabled media server is ready to stream videos from any PC or Mac computer on the same home wireless network using a Blu-ray player, gaming console (i.e. PS3 or Xbox 360) or another compatible HD media player in the house.

Note that the computer(s) in question must be running Windows XP/Vista/7 or Mac OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard.

The WD My Book Live is also ready out of the box to back-up your files using Apple's Time Machine.

Available now with a three-year warranty included, pricing for the My Book Live starts at $169.99 for the 1TB capacity and then jumps to $229.99 for 2TB of space.
