What a difference a volt makes. Eaton advocates 400-volt UPS design
Eaton is pushing new 400-volt (400V) editions of its Eaton 9390 and Eaton 9395 uninterruptible power supplies (UPSes) as space-saving alternatives to 600V AC and 480V AC configurations. The company also claims that its 400V technology is 80 percent efficient, delivering power directly to server racks at 230 volts.
Eaton is pushing new 400-volt (400V) editions of its Eaton 9390 and Eaton 9395 uninterruptible power supplies (UPSes) as space-saving alternatives to 600V AC and 480V AC configurations. The company also claims that its 400V technology is 80 percent efficient, delivering power directly to server racks at 230 volts. The other technologies have an end-to-end efficiency of 76 percent, Eaton estimates.
