If you don't like a standard, wait a few days for the next one to come along. There are a lot of standards and would-be standards flying around out there, but too few that you can bet your business on. What happens when a Web services standard falls out of favor? For example, vendors are reportedly backing away from the Java Business Integration spec. This seems to be happening a lot lately, even as new proposed standards are cranked out. Ronan Bradley, CEO of PolarLake, provides some perspective and advice on this problem in a recent blog. Namely, sit, relax, take a deep breath, and wait for the next one.
