Where do you turn for IM, chat and webcams? If you're the Defense Information Systems Agency, IBM. DISA awarded the first of two Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) contracts to IBM in a $17 million deal. IBM will provide those "collaborative" tools to DoD users., Federal Computer Week reports. DISA's mission is delivering information to warfighters, Lt. Gen. Charles Croom, DISA’s director, told Federal Computer Week in October 2005, and Croom views collaborative tools as key.

IBM will provide collaboration tools to the department from its Lotus Sametime software suite, which includes instant messaging; Web conferencing; white board tools; application sharing; broadcasting; chat; and audio and video capabilities, IBM's Linda Marshall said.
