Wi-Fi for your bathtub?

It seems like Wi-Fi is being built into almost anything these days, as witnessed by the wireless streaming capabilities of a new bathtub. Yes, you read that right.

Kohler's high-end tubs apparently weren't blinged out enough with features like chromatherapy (relaxation via colored lights). Among other amenities provided by the new Fountainhead VibrAcoustic bath (including a relaxation technique that combines soothing sounds, colors, and vibrations from the tub—what's next, a laser light show?), Kohler's packed in a wireless network connection. In the company's defense, it isn't adding Wi-Fi so you can surf the Internet while you're in the tub with your laptop. The feature is designed for you to listen to Internet radio or digital music files from your PC's hard drive.

Personally, I'd sooner buy a cheaper tub and set up some multi-room audio that included the bathroom—especially since well-heeled bathers will have to pay $10,000 or more for the Fountainhead VibrAcoustic. But if nothing else, it shows we've come a long way from the AM/FM radio for the shower that was the cutting edge of bathroom audio back in the '80s.
