Win one of five NEC DVD writers

Competition: It's the first day of our Christmas giveaway, and we're giving you the chance to win one of five NEC DVD recorders
Written by ZDNet UK, Contributor

For 2005, we have brought back our regular Christmas competition to lighten up your lives over the festive period and help you get your hands on some of the more fun technology that's out there.

Over the coming couple of weeks we shall be running twelve competitions with a whole bunch of fabulous prizes. All you have to do to win is answer a simple multiple choice question, and come up with a clever, witty, funny, inspired, or just fantastic tie-breaker.

In the first of these competitions we have five NEC ND4550 dual-layer 16x DVD recorders to give away. These are NEC's fourth-generation DVD drives, slashing the time it takes to burn DVDs. The ND4550 takes just six minutes to write an hour of DVD video, which means you can save the Christmas party antics on disc before any of your mates realise what you're up to.

The NEC ND4550 has 32x CD writing capabilities, making it the fastest writer on the market. 8.5GB of data can be stored onto one dual layer DVD, compared with just 4.7GB on a regular DVD — that's nearly four-and-a-half hours of movies compared to just two. This makes it possible to store more data in disc format than ever before.

This competition will close on 5 January, and we shall announce the winners on the site on 6 January, so once you've entered be sure to check back.

We shall open a new competition each working day from now until 30 December, so you have plenty of chances to win some of the most desirable tech kit around.
