Phone.com, Inc., Siemens Information and Communication Mobile, and StarHub Telecom will jointly host the first Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) seminar in Singapore, May 24-25.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., 24 May 2000 (Asia Pulse) - During the two-day event, entitled "Innovating the Mobile World", all three partners will provide speakers and tutorials that will address the business models and technical issues of delivering wireless Internet content and services in Singapore.

"Innovating the Mobile World" is structured to ignite the mobile Internet in Singapore, while educating wireless network operators, software developers and Internet content providers about the latest tools and opportunities in the Singaporean and greater Asian market.

Attendees will be introduced to recently developed WAP technology and applications and will also be briefed by senior executives from the hosting companies about topics that include the current wireless market in Singapore, WAP trends, WAP security, and mobile commerce.

Day Two of the seminar will feature an all-day training session to give attendees a series of hands-on tutorials addressing each stage of developing and implementing wireless Internet applications.

The session will be led by Phone.com, and will cover WML, both an overview and introduction to the various components and useful software tools, the development process of international applications, variables and contexts, content management and security, and sending notifications.

"Since its inception, Phone.com has been committed to educating wireless operators and software developers about the most innovative tools and protocols for creating the mobile Internet," said Tony Miranzadeh, vice president and general manager of Asia Pacific and Latin America for Phone.com. "We have created software, such as the UP.SDK, to provide a solution for rapid implementation of wireless applications and prevent the creation of a digital divide in the mobile Internet space."

"Combining our efforts again for this seminar along with StarHub, will benefit the entire wireless industry as we help all players ramp up to create accurate and useful applications for mobile phone users."
