"WWF: Mobile Madness" game debuts

Game publisher THQ announced a new cell phone game based on its WWF (World Wrestling Federation) professional wrestling franchise. "WWF: Mobile Madness," one of the first products from the company's new THQ Wireless division, is available now for Java-enabled cell phones, with a version for SMS (Short Messaging Service) and WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) phones on the way in a few months, according to a company statement. Cell phone giant Qualcomm also is working on a mobile entertainment service based on the WWF. The THQ game allows players to control animated wrestlers such as "Undertaker" in simulated combat. THQ Wireless is also working on a version of "Tetris" for mobile phones.
