Our family has had an Xbox 360 for about a year now, but I have only played it a total of about 6 hours that entire time because I just do not have the time to sit and play games. I do have time during my train commute, while waiting in line, or while shopping at the mall with my girls to play games on my mobile phones and I do enjoy these games. The promise of gaming on Windows Phone 7 devices through Xbox LIVE is exciting and very early this morning as I was testing out the HTC Surround the Xbox LIVE Extras pack was released into the Marketplace.

Xbox LIVE Extras gives you the ability to create and/or fully customize your avatar right on your Windows Phone 7 device. I have been meaning to make some updates to mine, but never could find the time to get in front of my TV with the Xbox 360. I was able to make the updates to my avatar and then discover that I could view and track achievements, view my friend's achievements and information, send messages to my friends (requires a Gold account), and manage my profile. To customize your avatar simply tap on it to start the process and to see achievements and communicate tap on your gamer tag. Check out the video to see how Xbox LIVE Extras looks on a Windows Phone 7 device.

I understand there is more support coming for your avatar to be able to act as a level, flashlight, and more so stay tuned for that.
