Yahoo properties received more unique U.S. visitors than any other company in July, numbers that did not include the recently acquired Tumblr, according to comScore's monthly top 50 U.S. web properties list.

Yahoo had 196.6 million visitors in July, outpacing Google's 192 million visitors in July. Microblogging site Tumblr, which Yahoo agreed to buy in May for $1.1 billion , ranked 28th with 38 million visitors.

Yahoo hasn't been in the top spot since May 2011, according to comScore, which provided an update to Marketing Land. While the list is notable, keep in mind these figures don't include mobile.

And of course, web traffic is only part of the equation. Monetizing a greater share of that web traffic is what investors and fans are hoping CEO Marissa Mayer can achieve.

On a side note: CBS Interactive, which owns SmartPlanet, ranked in ninth place in July with 81.5 million unique visitors, according to comScore.
