in brief Aussie IT services outfit ASG Group today announced it had won a contract to provide its existing customer, the WA Department of Education, with additional IT services.

The three-year deal, worth over $23 million, may be extended by up to two years and will cover Oracle applications management, database administration and server operations for corporate applications including human resources and finance. ASG will also provide application support for the Oracle Student Learning (OSL) application currently used by over 300 schools across WA.

Of the new contract, Bevan Doyle, chief information officer at the department, said: "We have enjoyed a close working relationship with ASG for many years and during this time ASG has provided essential services and built a strong understanding of the department's mission-critical Oracle applications environment."

ASG's other contracts include a $13 million application management deal with Qantas and an $8 million managed services agreement with the Federal Government's Civil Aviation Safety Authority. This latest contract adds to ASGs project pipeline, worth over $500 million.
