NBN Co signs third AU$17.9m contract for multi-dwelling units

NBN Co has brought on another contractor to help undertake work on the National Broadband Network (NBN) in the Northern Territory and Queensland.

Announcing the AU$17.9 million contract, NBN Co has signed on ISG Management (ISGM) to connect flats and units to the NBN. Under the one-year contract, ISGM will be responsible for the necessary survey, design, and construction services, as well as notifying the affected residents and owner corporations.

NBN Co believes that the process of contacting these individuals and organisations should be easier due to agreements set up with Strata Community Australia (SCA), which, in addition to having 2,500 members, is setting up a service for owners to voluntarily submit their contact information, even if they are not SCA members.

ISGM already has experience with connecting multi-dwelling units (MDUs) to the NBN, having done so for the first release sites. ISGM's contract has an option for a one-year extension.

"We're pleased to have signed another partner to assist in the proactive approach we are taking to the rollout to apartments in terms of engagement with residents and the construction task," NBN Co chief operations officer Ralph Steffens said in a statement.

ISGM is now the third contractor brought on by NBN Co to deliver services to MDUs. Universal Communications Group is delivering these services in metropolitan Sydney and Tasmania over the next two years, while Downer EDI is responsible for MDUs in other parts of New South Wales, as well as Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory.
