National Broadband Network (NBN) construction partner Service Stream will continue to physically connect premises to the NBN in a contract extension worth AU$140 million.
The build drop model for the National Broadband Network means that additional construction work needs to be completed before a customer in a premises can connect to the NBN after they have ordered a service through a retail service provider.
Service Stream is currently contracted to connect the fibre between the street fibre network to the NBN connection box and power supply units in premises in Victoria, NSW, Western Australia, Northern Territory, and South Australia.
The contract has today been renewed by NBN Co for an initial two years, worth up to AU$140 million for the company. There is also the option for two one-year extensions on the contract.
Last month Service Stream also secured an AU$70 million extension on its NBN construction contracts to build out the fibre network to new housing estates in New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.
