State government-owned electricity provider Hydro Tasmania has picked UXC to roll out and maintain a new SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in a deal estimated to be worth in excess of AU$25 million.
The utilities company put the project out to tender in August last year, with hopes to implement an ERP system that will help it remain competitive in the market.
The new system will provide a base for Hydro Tasmania to modernise its software infrastructure as part of a wider IT-transformation strategy.
The project will be delivered through UXC's SAP-centric subsidiary UXC Oxygen. Hydro Tasmania settled with the UXC subsidiary for its expertise in the SAP space and experience in the ERP market. In August this year, UXC acquired SAP consultancy firm Stream to strengthen its SAP competency.
The value of the contract will depend on the SAP modules that will be implemented, but UXC predicts that it will exceed AU$25 million, a price tag that includes ongoing support as well.
