in brief The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) has renewed a long-running comprehensive technology outsourcing contract with Unisys for another five years following a competitive bid process.

Unisys has acted as the agency's main IT outsourcer for 12 years and will continue to provide it with desktop and infrastructure, LAN, security administration, desktop asset management and change control services under the new deal, as well as taking on a broader oversight role of ANAO's other IT providers.

"To date, an outsourced model for IT services has proven successful by enabling us to not only reduce costs but also deliver efficiencies in our provision of audit services to some 300 government bodies," ANAO CIO Gary Pettigrove said in a statement issued by Unisys.

"In this latest extension of our relationship with Unisys we have worked together to raise the bar even further, using the ITIL framework to centralise and align our work flow processes and systems to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency," he said.

Unisys' new oversight capacity was designed to aid the agency in achieving better efficiency, effectiveness and coordination of ICT management in line with the recommendations of the Gershon report, Pettigrove added. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
