Australia will be the first country to receive Dimension Data's enterprise mobility-as-a-service (EMaaS) offering, as the company works to offer customers an integrated cloud-based approach to mobility management.

With Australia being the first market to receive the new offering, the South African IT services company developed the service within its Sydney development facility, and will be delivered through Dimension Data's managed cloud platform.

The new offering sees Dimension Data establish an end-user computing platform aimed at enabling a suite of services, allowing organisations to ramp up their mobility capabilities and end-user computing requirements.

Dimension Data believes that the service, which incorporates a comprehensive overview of mobility usage, and features the cloud's automation and consumption-based pricing structure, will allow customers to simplify the management of complex mobile environments, making the adoption of mobile applications more cost effective and efficient.

Dimension Data's general manager of end-user computing Australia Brian Walshe said that the company's customers have expressed the desire to leverage mobility in order to provide more innovative and reliable services to engage with increasingly mobile employees and customers.

Walshe also said that due to its rapid uptake of mobile broadband connectivity, Australia is a market ripe for the introduction of such enterprise mobility-as-a-service offerings.

"According to research carried out by the OECD among its member nations, Australia is ranked second highest in mobile broadband uptake, with a 114 percent penetration rate, and 26.46 million subscriptions," said Walshe. "These statistics make the Australian market ideal for adopting better mobility management solutions. By creating a dialogue with these early adopters, we can quickly enhance and evolve the portfolio."

In January, the OECD statistics showed that as of June 2013, there were 25.94 million mobile broadband subscriptions in Australia, with a 114 percent penetration rate. Australia beat out Finland, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Denmark, and the United States for the top spot.

This is good news for Dimension Data group executive Steve Nola, who said that the changing face of the enterprise IT market is seeing end users increasingly expecting to be able to work from any location on any device.

"Desks are slowly disappearing from the corporate and government landscapes," said Nola. "Dimension Data designed EMaaS to help enterprise clients incorporate mobile and smart devices into their businesses in a controlled and secure way. EMaaS supports organisations' environmentally sustainable strategies by enabling mobility and collaboration.

"The value for enterprise end users is in creating innovative ways to achieve successful personal and business outcomes, regardless of their location, device, or mobile service."
