AWS adds new DevOps engineer certification
Amazon Web Services is already pushing out news ahead of its annual developer summit, Re:Invent, in Las Vegas next week.
The cloud giant is adding another new DevOps engineer certification for AWS Certified Developers and SysOps Administrators.
Officially labeled as "AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional," the ranking attests to an engineer's technical expertise in provisioning, operating, and managing distributed application systems on the AWS platform.
Amazon first launched its Global Certification Program just over a year ago, offering extra visibility points for both IT professionals and AWS itself. The program is comprised of several tests focused on brainstorming, deploying and managing applications on the AWS platform.
The first in the series, dubbed the "AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Level" certification, covers the design and development of applications on AWS.
In May, AWS also announced it would be granting authorization for the use of an "AWS Certified" logo on business materials.
This latest accreditation is the next step for AWS Certified Developers and SysOps Administrators who have either been certified as "AWS Certified Developer – Associate" or "AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate."
Engineers are also expected to have several years of experience provisioning, operating, and managing AWS environments. That's on top of prior experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language, among other qualifications listed by AWS.
AWS re:Invent attendees will be among the first eligible to take the exam. The examination period will run through mid-December, and interested engineers can apply online to take the test.
