It's all about the connectors

If you're considering the purchase of one of the new generation of iPods (i.e. nano or 5G video iPod) it's important to think about accessories. If you're upgrading from a previous model, you should take a careful inventory of your iPod doodads and accessories and make sure that they'll work with your new iron.

Mac mini needs a Front Row

After watching Tuesday's festivities one of the coolest things I took away from the Steve's presentation was Apple's innovative Front Row remote control which turns any Mac into a media center—as long as it's a new iMac, that is.

Apple drops FireWire from video iPod

I am simply shocked and amazed that Apple has abandoned FireWire on the just-announced fifth generation iPods with video. I understand why there's no FireWire on the iPod shuffle (no port) and even why it's off the nano (tiny form-factor, lower cost) but why in blazes did Apple leave FireWire off the new video iPod?

The new iMac: thin is in

The theme of the day in San Jose today was thin. In addition to the new iPod with video playback, Apple used today's "One More Thing" media event in San Jose to announce revisions to it's all-in-one iMac line.

PowerPage: The migration blues

I've been getting a ton of email to ask about the deal with my Web site: O'Grady's PowerPage. First, let me dispel some rumors. The PowerPage wasn't shut down by Apple legal, a Denial-Of-Service (DOS) attack or unpaid domain or hosting bills. And we certainly weren't acquired by a large media company (my favorite). The PowerPage is simply suffering from a case of the migration blues.
