Amazon iPhone app released
Amazon.com today released Amazon Mobile (iTunes) a free application for iPhone via the App Store. The world's largest e-commerce Web site was previously available as a Web application (m.amazon.com) but it lacked the sophistication of Amazon Mobile.

The new iPhone app features the ability to search, compare prices, read reviews and make purchases. You also have access to your existing cart, wish lists,  payment and shipping options, order history, one-click settings, and Amazon Prime benefits.

The iPhone app also includes an experimental feature called Amazon Remembers that allows you to use the iPhone camera to create a list of retail items that you want to remember. The photos are stored in the app and on the Amazon Web site and – this is where it gets interesting – they'll attempt to find a match for the product in your photo and will send you an email alert if it does. Sounds like an interesting twist.

As a big user of the Amazon iPhone-optimized site, I'm looking forward to using the new app. Don't expect a tab for Amazon MP3 to show up on it any time soon though...
