The new red iPod nano is just like the other second-generation (aluminum) nanos. It has 4GB of memory and will sell for US$199. The difference is that US$10 from every sale will be donated to the Global Fund to fight AIDS.
You make choices every day, from the clothes you wear to the music you play. Now making a choice means making a difference. The iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED holds up to 1,000 songs, 25,000 photos(1), and a little hope.
UPDATE: The Fifth Avenue (NYC) Apple retail store has changed their iconic white logo to red to mark the occassion.
According to the Apple press release:
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was established in 2002, with the support of the world’s leaders and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world’s most devastating diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need by supporting locally-driven strategies. To date, the Global Fund has committed $5.2 billion (US) to more than 363 programs in 131 countries.
