Summary: Apple today released iOS 4.3.2 today for iPhone and iPad users fixing issues with blank/frozen video during FaceTime calls and international 3G issues with the iPad. Verizon iPhone users get iOS 4.2.7.

Apple today released iOS 4.3.2 for iPhone and iPad users. According to the splash screen the iOS 4.3.2 Software Update contains:

  • fixes for blank/frozen video during FaceTime calls
  • fixes for international 3G issues with the iPad
  • the latest Apple security updates
  • improvements and other bug fixes

You can download the update by connecting your device to iTunes and clicking “Check for update.” Alternatively, MacStories has posted direct links to the downloads to the restore.ipsw files, if you’re comfortable with that type of thing.

MacStories notes that most devices get build number 8H7 while the CDMA/Verizon iPad 2 gets build number 8H8. Apple separately released iOS 4.2.7 to Verizon iPhone users.

I installed the 666 MB update on my iPhone 4 (and iPad 2) without issue.

I had just upgraded to iOS 5 today. It was not a smooth ski Toronto process because I had encountered small problems. It's ironic the day BBM had a slip and fall , is when Apple release iOS 5 and iMessage. It's even nice iMessage does not cost anything. The Best things are free such as birthday cards free. I think iOS 5 is a worthy upgrade.
666Mb? My 16Gb 3GS, upgrading from 4.3.1 is only 420.2Mb!

@Ben_E
666, 420, Do I see some type of subconscious number fascination going on here?
@Loverock Davidson
Well, it's the number of carbon; 6 protons, neutrons and electrons.

@Loverock Davidson Anyone else lose their ho m e sharing ability with the 4.3.2 update? I upda ted this morning and just noticed that I no longer have the ability to get my songs or vids from my iTunes. It's in the settings just like before but when you open the iPod app, there is no more shared feature in the "More" tab.

The cert fixes are worth the weight of admission...

Don
The last few times I've updated my 3GS it never completed and posted a time-out error, and I had to reset/restore my iPhone from iTunes.... a royal PITA! No idea why this happens now when it didn't for almost two years, and it's connected the same way to my PC.

I probably won't do this upgrade.
Coincidentally the list price of the first Apple II was $666.00. Does Steven have the number of the beast on his mind? Curious

@dheady@... It's actually Wozniak that has an affinity for repeating numbers, and set the first selling price. If they do it now, and it's fun to speculate and think so happy , it's for historical reasons and not for Jobs.

Why different versions?

Surely that's a pain for them. Together with carriers around the world, there must be quite a few variations. Anyone?

@mattmuir: No, all of the rest of the carriers around the world have the same firmware on the iPhones because they are all GSM/HSPA whereas the Verizon iPhone is CDMA. The only variation between carriers comes from carrier updates which are just XML plist settings files enabling and disabling things that are not supported by the carrier.

Verizon is a special case because of the differing technology so that they are on a different code branch. Apple will probably resync the two into one in the near future.

I dont have a home sharing option with 4.2.7, should it be available with this release?
