iTunes 7.2Apple yesterday released iTunes 7.2 (build 34) which includes the foundation for "iTunes Plus," the apparent name for what Apple is calling the new DRM-free (US$1.29) music tracks they announced in April with EMI.

No word on what else is included in the 29.2MB download but who wants to bet that it breaks the QTFairUse6 (version 2.5) hack to decrypt purchased music?

In other news Apple also patched QuickTime up to version 7.1.6 (1.4MB) which "improves security."

Both are waiting in your Software Update.

  • And here I thought I was gonna go to Apple iTunes

finally with my iPod for un-drm related EMI music. Instead the price difference says to me forget it. :P Ah well it's the thought that counts.

  • What about the most important thing...

Support on the Vista platform. Come on Apple get your act together. Soon we will be getting a new PC, if support for I-Tunes on Vista is not there I will burn all my songs to CD and go with Walmart music store instead.

    • it does support Vista...

...iTunes 7.2 does support Vista, the media is just not focused on that part of the upgrade right now... iTunes Plus is the news...

      • Apple May Say it Does

But it seems to be no different than previous versions of iTunes in terms of compatibility with Vista. At this point, I wouldn't doubt that the first iTunes version that's truly compatible with Vista will be released no sooner than the next major revision of iTunes, perhaps this coming September. It's ridiculous.
