Apple Webcast event tomorrow?
TUAW posted a rumor Saturday from an "anonymous Apple reseller" who claims to have received an e-mail from Apple asking them to remove all Apple TV displays and literature and to destroy them by September 30, 2008 at 5 PM. The e-mail also references a webcast "kick off" on September 30 – which is tomorrow, and ironically, a Tuesday.
Commentary raised the theory that Apple was simply requesting the removal of ATV "displays and literature" because the licensing for the shows/images used in them had run out. Apple frequently uses that one shot (above) of hundreds of TV screens in their Apple TV marketing material and it seems logical that some of them are expired or decided not to renew. If simply a copyright issue it still leaves the remark about the "webcast" in play. Webcasts are pretty out of character for Apple, so this seems like a bit of a reach to me.
TUAW is hoping for the announcement of a Mac mini/Apple TV hybrid while others think that it may have something to do with the Brick which I mentioned in my previous post.
