Crazy iPhone 5 concept video making the rounds

Crazy iPhone 5 concept video making the rounds

Summary: The iPhone 5 won't be half as thin, include a laser keyboard, or a holographic display, but this concept video is fun to watch nonetheless.

SHARE:

Ryan Kaplan spotted this iPhone 5 concept video by aatma STUDIO in the YoutTube most popular list. While it's pretty obvious that the next iPhone won't be that thin, or include a laser keyboard, or a holographic display, but it's fun to watch nonetheless. I think that this is closer to the iPhone 6 or 7.

Here's the description:

Amazing Concept iPhone 5. This CG iPhone 5 has advanced iPhone features such as a sleeker iPhone design, a laser keyboard & holographic display all rolled into this iPhone 5 video. The computer generated Concept iPhone 5 features is an exponential leap to the iPhone 4 or iPhone 3gs of today.

We hope you enjoy this iPhone 5 video more than the current trend of iPhone 5 rumors such as iPhone 5 leaked and iPhone 5 unboxing videos. Apple is yet to make the iPhone 5 announcement. So have your fill of this new iPhone video before the iPhone 5 release. Soundtrack "Movement Proposition" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons "Attribution 3.0"

  • iPhone 7 or 9 perhaps.

People have way too much time on their hands.

All the ideas taken from other concept designs from years ago. Still - or just because of that - the whole video sucks badly. I don't really get why this became a story at zdnet in the first place.

@ff2 I assume that what you don't get is in fact, a lot.

Boring. I do agree with Bruizer, way too much time.

    Where's your sense of fun??

  • Good patent idea

It may not be under consideration but Apple might have already prepared patent applications for these features before they are developed. Technology may not be ready for it just now, but after 10 years it will be. Patents will be handy at that time to keep other guys off bay.
Alternatively, if someone else ends up developing these features into product before Apple, they have to pay Apple Tax. Win-Win situation...

This video is pretty far-fetched and I'm with the other guys on here. Why is ZDNet posting this stuff?

On another note though, I seriously hope phones never get that thin. Just the bend in your leg while the phone is in your pocket would be enough to snap a thin device like that.

    • Maybe not ...

@heymatthew ... if they're made out of "transparent aluminum" or some yet-to-invented material. ;-)

@jscott69 Burning pure Aluminium in an oxygen-rich environment gives you transparent Aluminium, AKA Corundum... A little Chromium makes Ruby, Titanium makes Sapphire, and all are as brittle as er, crystalline DiLithium

IMO the research will be directed more to making them more flexible if they are that thin.

@heymatthew Only one phone will be that thin. I'm sure someone is sitting on a ridiculous patent for precisely that already.
Its not really fair to take a poke at just Apple for this behaviour; I'm British, so I often spill my tea while perusing ZDNets coverage of WW3, as I like to call it.

Peace

I love it! I'd love it even more if were true - especially that projected keypad....brilliant. I imagine by 2020 it will be a case of 'been there, done that' though.

As long as we're depicting unrealistic fantasy features, why not include video of it stretching out into a hovercraft allowing the user to ride it around the office?

Laser keyboard... ok... at least its plausible that it might be included in a year or two. But an iPhone with a holographic display? NOT iPhone 6 or 7 -- more like iPhone 26 or 27...

@SbySW ..lol.. i am laughing like crazy after reading your comment.. Now, i imagine that the next video brings out a nice lady out of the phone, along with the projected keypad.. that lady sits next to me, cuddle me, etc and go back into the phone along with the keypad

The iPhone will probably be able to play holographic videos before it plays Flash videos.
