Although it won't be available to the great unwashed until an undetermined date "this summer," registered iPhone developers have already got access to the iPhone 3.0 software that Apple's Scott Forstall demonstrated yesterday via the iPhone Dev Center.

For those that don't want to pony up the $100 or $300 to join the iPhone Developer Program or just don't want to flash their perfectly functional iPhone to install a buggy beta, there are screen shots.

MobileCrunch has posted several 'shots of the Developer Beta of iPhone 3.0 in action, including the great shot at right of the cut and copy UI.

MobileCrunch also notes made several other observations about iPhone 3.0 I hadn't heard here are two:

  • There’s a “Find my iPhone” option under MobileMe - We don’t recall ever seeing this before, and it wasn’t mentioned by Apple today. We’re not 100% sure what it is. Skyhook-powered lost/stolen iPhone locator, perhaps?

  • Voice Recorder stays open behind the scenes if you close it while recording. Getting a screenshot of it was tough for some reason, but it looks just like when you close the phone app while you’re on a call, with a small bar running along the top of the screen. No sign yet if it will allow you to record calls, as the app crashes if you try.

I don't know about you but I'm counting the days until iPhone 3.0 is released.

Update: AppleInsider has posted 43 (count 'em) screen shots from iPhone 3.0:
