Wired's Gadget Lab caught wind of this cool banner flying at Macworld Expo's Moscone's South Hall today. The banner, which reads "2008. There's something in the air," is hanging above the escalators going down to the venerable exhibition hall.

Could it be an allusion to a new wireless product? ARS Technica thinks its "purchasing songs over the AT&T network when you are not browsing the iTunes Store at Starbucks."

My money is on Over The Air (OTA) software downloads to iPhone, no computer or iTunes required. Think about it. Nullriver's Installer.app already does this, why should the iPhone SDK take a step backward? And while we're at it, give the iPhone wireless sync for crying out loud! The thing ships with three radios but we have to connect a cable to sync? How 1999...
