I have to admit that I never thought that I'd buy a $25 iPhone application, but after reading the reviews and understanding the technology and information available through ViewTi Golf, I decided to bite the bullet.

Boy am I glad that I bought it, it really exemplifies the power of the iPhone. Competing comparable golf GPS products on the market are priced at around $125+ further accentuating the value of ViewTi.

The quantity of courses available is tremendous. Great job by the developers for making so many courses available near my home in Pennsylvania. There seem to be an awful lot of private courses (none of which I belong to, btw) in the app. Luckily there are many public courses mapped out as well.

There is no need to program your own courses like some of the other iPhone apps. The one public course that was not on the phone that I was going to play over the weekend was uploaded in about 24 hours after I emailed their support requesting the course. Great job to the ViewTi team for being on top of the email and getting the course online so quickly.

I’ve only used the app for three rounds so far and unfortunately, it hasn’t helped my scores (yet). However, I was able to measure a few monster drives with ease. In addition, ViewTi Golf helped me with many GIR shots*. ("Greens In Regulation" means making it onto the green within enough shots to have a birdie putt. Hitting the green in one on a par 3, in two shots on a par 4 and in 3 shots on a par 5 are all considered a GIR. -Ed)

The GPS is surprisingly accurate. I know the distance that I hit my irons, and being able to match that with my actual distance is a powerful feature. I had a blind lie behind several 50 foot trees. The GPS said that I was 128 yards away, so I grabbed my 8 iron which I hit an average of 125 yards, and hit the ball the perfect distance with the help of the yellow lie direction. Without the GPS, I would have had a hard time guessing as I couldn’t see the green from my lie.

The interface is simple and easy to use and the tracking information can quickly be emailed to my MacBook Pro for further analysis of how bad I am. I love this app and can’t wait to get back out to use it again.

ViewTI Golf is $25 but is listed as "50% off" its normal price of $50. If you use a golf app on your iPhone, tell us about it in the TalkBack.

After reading your review, I took the plunge on ViewTi after having used GolfTraxx (a freebie that works quite well). I found ViewTi to be as good as advertised, with all local courses available, and now use this product exclusively. Great on battery usage. Distances come up quickly and usually very accurate. The only functionality suggestions would be to enable detailed scoring (putts, etc) for all 4 players, and have scores default to par, from which you +/- strokes.

I have the uPro and this app. This is just as good at 1/16th the price. I too wanted a local course which was not available in their list. Within 24 hours of my request, there it was ready for use. It is easier to use than my uPro (which I really like). Maybe the best part is that I always have my iphone but I sometimes forget to charge or bring the dedicated golf GPS. I used it alongside the uPro last week and the yardages were exactly the same. This little app is worth the price!

I really dont know what to think, this Viewti has Three version of Golf apps. WHY?
Is one better then the other. If so why is this one app for the Poor, one app for the middleclass, and one app for the rich.
I just dont understand why you guys didnt mention this. You stand by it so explain why there are three difference Apps versions for the same thing. Is one better then the other and WHY?

I've been using the app since the beginning of the
season. I'm pretty satisfied for the most part but two
annoyances. Since my iPhone goes into sleep mode, it
takes a little longer than I'd like to bring up the
correct yardage. Also, I've had to reinstall 3 times now
because the app won't come up.

Use an external battery pack. I use a Mophie battery and am able to get
through the round with about 30% battery left on the phone and then I use the
Mophie to replenish the battery.

Not bad, on my maui golf trip I used the app. It covered all the course I played, and is way cheaper than a SkyCaddy, or Bushnell LaserRange finder.

I bought this app in feb 2009. It stopped working in late
November. It won't even open anymore. I have tried to contact
the developer at least once every two weeks since then and no
response. None. And then they completely removed the app and
replaced it with another $29 app. There were numerous
complaint about the same thing before they remoed the app from
the app store. Beware, this could happen to you.

I'm in complete agreement with the last post. This app was sold to me as including updates and not having a subscription model. After a few months they just rebadged and re-released the app, with an updated UI skin. They plan to do this every year. The existing app now contains nagware to get you to upgrade

GolfShot is a better app, and is a lot more honest in it's dealings with customers to date. Avoid Golf Ti 20xx like the plague!
